Can't receive SMS - How can I change my SMSC (Short Message service center)

I can receive and make phone calls, I can receive SMS but I can't send SMS.

After a lot of research online, I'm almost certain the problem is my SMSC number. I've seen some guides that suggest calling *#5005*7672*# but upon trying that on my phone I get this error message: "Error performing request. Unknown Error".

I've tried restarting the phone, resetting to factory settings, removing the SIM, resetting network settings, turning off and on again iMessages and Airplane Mode and nothing works. I've even contacted apple support that told me to talk to the carrier. The carrier told me they can't do anything else.

Any help with this please?

Okay, I just fixed it. I've put my SIM card on the Google Pixel 3, manually changed the SMSC number and sent an SMS from there (which worked). After switching the SIM back to my iPhone X I was able to send SMS.

Note to Apple: Please allow people to change the SMSC number as I've seen a LOT of people having the same issues.
