I have an automatic update for the operating system. Once I installed 10.14.5 I could not see screen shots or imovie rendering on my desktop. I used finder, and could not find them at all either. How can I remove 10.14.5 and return to 10.14.4?

Press "Command + Shift + 5" and check the Options. Make sure Desktop is selected from the list.
Do you mean newly created files or files that were on the Desktop before updating?

I have 10.14.2 installer and it let me downgrade back to that version. Then I downloaded the Combo updater for 10.1.4.4 and now my Mac has no issues.
Thank you. The newer version eventually let me see my PDFs and screen shots once I restarted the machine holding down control R.
