Mac won’t connect via Ethernet or LAN

My mid-2011 27” iMac can connect wirelessly but not wired. I have a Cat-6 ethernet patch cable hard wired into Netgear Orbi router. The other end is plugged into my iMac’s RJ-45 ethernet port.

I have Spectrum as an ISP, had Xfinity (Comcast before). I used to connect on my LAN and it stopped working a year ago. Can my RJ-45 port go bad?

With major network reconfigurations, you may have to perform a SMC reset. Go Here: Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

First thing I'd try, is another ethernet cable.

What model is the Netgear Orbi?

Does that Orbi support ethernet via the ethernet port?

Do other ethernet devices (desktop, laptop, etc...) work connected to the Orbi in the same way?

Perhaps the ethernet port on the Netgear Orbi is somehow locked down or disable and needs to be enabled?

I have a brand new Cat-6 patch cable. It is possible it is

bad but not likely. I had this same problem in my previous

house with a different ISP and a Cat-5e wired house.

I use a Netgear Orbi RBR50 (RBK50 = router + satellite)

Spectrum (ISP) Modem, Router and iMac all in my home

office. There is a coax in there, feeding the cable modem.

The only other wired device is my son's Xbox One, which

is working fine. It is hardwired to the satellite's ethernet port.
