gmail swipe

After restart, Iphone xr will not archive or trash messages via swipe. It resets after I go to gmail/settings/swipe actions/right or left swipe/trash, then back to archive. Anyone else have this problem? Potential fix?

iPhone XR, iOS 12

Hello babikes,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that you're intermittently unable to swipe to delete or archive email on your iPhone XR. You've done a great job trying to get this resolved! I'm happy to help.

If you haven't already, make sure your iPhone has the latest software version.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue persists, restart your iPhone. Restarting can resolve many unexpected behaviors.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the behavior still continues, use the steps below to remove the email account and add it again:

  1. On your computer, sign in to your email provider’s website. Make sure that all of your email is there or make sure that your email is saved somewhere other than your iOS device.
  2. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts.
  3. Tap the email account that you want to remove.
  4. Tap Delete Account.
  5. Add your account again.

If you can't send or receive emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Let us know the results. Please include specific error messages and any other troubleshooting steps you may have tried.

Have a great day!
