Iphone 8 locked up

Tried to update phone w Itunes, 12 hours later just have apple logo on phone. Cannot shut off w side switch held down or w it held down an main toggle. Leaving for international travel in 3 hours and not happy.

My i-phone is locked up after I tried to update the latest update. My mac needed updating so I did that (Catalina) but phone still won’t update, it is froze, nothing but a drawing of a charge cord and the bottom of iPhone on screen. Nothing I do has any affect on iPhone. It is a iPhone 6s.
