iPhone 8 locked during update process 20 hrs ago. Can't access phone at all.

How can I stop the update? Tried unplugging, holding on/off button, volume keys, but nothing will get my phone out of the update mode. Computer shutoff about 1.4 hrs after process started yesterday afternoon. Still unable to get past black screen with white Apple logo blinking periodically. HELP!

The solution was While connected to the computer and IN iTunes to do a quick press of "volume up" button then quick press of the "volume down" button and then press and HOLD the power button on the right until the icon shows the cord being connected to the computer for updates. Two attempts were made, one to update software and one to replace software. The later worked great but toke about 45 minutes to complete the whole process. The Apple staff at "1.800.APL.CARE" was fantastic!!
