Apple ID verification
getting the same message saying password is not valid so I change password and get a session timed out message

Seems to have went away after logging out of cloud then logging back in

Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.
Try a restart.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Try a forced restart.
