Messages won't open or force quit

Hi, all!

My Messages app just decided to stop working. It will not open and force quitting does nothing. I tried to quit through the activity monitor, but the Messages app doesn't even show up there. I went to my Terminal to see if I could force quit from there, but Messages doesn't show up there either. One common suggestion is to delete the file "com.apple.Messages.plist" from the Preferences folder in the Library. I tried that, and it didn't work either. I also tried uninstalling the app, but my macbook won't allow it.

What the **** can I do?

My computer is a MacbookPro mid 2012, with Mojave 10.14.4.

MacBook Pro 15", macOS 10.14

What happens if you try this: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support

If it's still happening with another user account on the computer, you know it's something a little deeper than just your user's configuration. Then you would need to consider something like reinstalling the macOS or maybe just updating (10.14.5 is out I believe)

If it is not happening in another user, your easiest fix would probably be to restore from a time machine backup, if you have one*: Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support

*I say it would be the easiest at that point because the answer is going to likely be somewhere in the library files or a conflict with another application you have installed.

Best of luck!
