iPhone X can only connect to wifi within 5 feet any further it disconects

My iPhone x only connects to wifi if 5 feet or closer, anywhere over 5 feet it disconnects, I have tried resetting, and changing DNS but nothing works, I also tried the hard reset system but it just takes me to siri, It is very frustrating sitting in my lounge not able to access my wifi, especially as my wife sitting next to me with a Samsung Galaxy9 has a great connection, anyone have a solution that may help me, This is the most expensive phone I have ever paid for and I am disappointed that it fails to connect properly.

Thanks Ian Mc

Wi-Fi is a tricky beast sometimes. Let me see what I can do to help.

First, try these steps (if you haven't arleady): If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support

Some other things to consider:

  • Do you have a case on the iPhone? -Try taking it off and see if the range improves
  • Do you have a lot of Wi-Fi devices near you, or inbetween your phone and the router? -Try turning some of them off, or moving to a different location just as far from the router and see if it improves
  • Do you have a dual-band router [i.e. a 2.4Ghz network and a 5Ghz network]? -Try connecting to the other one and see if it improves

I know you're only seeing the symptom on your phone, but this could still be something on the router side. Consider rebooting the router if you haven't already.

Let me know if you have more questions after that.

Best of luck dude

Hi Reboot it,

Thanks for your reply, I tried all but got no change or difference to Wifi reception, however I just got a small update, its usually large updates I get and always have difficulty downloading due to intermittent servers where I live, but the small update has changed my phone it now works great, updated to version 12 3 1 has solved the problem.

Thank you, Ian
