Auto fill address wrong

i just noticed the last couple of times I bought something online, that the address was wrong by one house (two numbers eg 524 instead of 526). It’s pretty embarrassing, each time I noticed as it was placing my order and the info was leaving the screen. So I had to contact the companies who were very good about it. I went into my contact information and Apple has GPS tracked me to find out where I live. It had also gone into my (very) private and personal emails to find out my email address, and I assume those of my contacts. I couldn’t believe it, I think they had picked up the most personal email I have ever sent to remain forever in my contact information, now that takes talent. I thought Apple was a lesser evil than Google, now I’m not so sure. As maps always has me at the address next door, can’t that be more accurate? So contacts had me at the address next door, and then autofill has me at the address next door. Silly, silly. I did work out how to fix it, go into contacts choose ignore and then edit, but it’s not such a clever feature, and it’s pretty invasive. Can’t you just let us fill in our own details, and never try to derive them from information that should be private.

Thank you. I looked at these settings, and turned off Safari using my location. There’s no setting to stop Apple going through my private emails to establish my email address and those of my contacts though. Oddly, when I sign into my Apple communities account my phone says someone’s trying to sign into my account from a small (seemingly random) suburb of a city 500km away. And Safari has always placed me in another town entirely, that’s around 300km away, and about 280km from the first city. I’ve already told Safari not to target advertising to my location.

I always have location turned on. Saved my life a couple of years ago, I was away from home, parked in a field amongst other cars to go to an outdoor light show, came back, it was pitch black, the number of cars had multiplied astronomically. I did not know how I was going to find my car, then I saw “maps destinations: parked car”. Phew!
