Mojave 10.14.5 "Cannot connect to internet"
Did this new update do something to my connection? My other devices are fine. Only my iMac is impacted. Connected via wifi and ethernet. TIA.

Finally found the fix today after my second call to support. Hope this helps others.

Now, back to work!
So that tells me you are connected to the network but you're not getting out. One other thing you can try is flushing your DNS.
Open terminal and type this command: sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
It will prompt you for a password, enter your computer password and hit enter (please note the cursor will not move)
Try the internet in a couple minutes. If no internet you may have the issue I'm running into.
First of all let's have you try to ping your router (assuming you are at home), the easiest way to find it is to go into your network settings under system preferences. Click advanced and the numbers after "Router" are what you want. Most of the time it's 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.
Once you know what it is, open terminal and type the following: ping (router address) (example: ping 192.168.1.1 and hit enter.
Hi all to give you an update:
I had an identical MacBook Pro that was not having the issue so I decided to rule out bad hardware and swapped the hard drives. The problem followed the hard drive so I was able to rule out hardware.
I decided to wipe the new hard drive in the users computer and copy documents over. The install of my USB stick was 10.14.3. So far the machine is working properly but it’s not ideal for me to be rolling back with doing clean installs for the other users.
I upgraded my machine to 10.14.6 beta and so far it seems to be doing alright.
I’m pretty convinced this is an issue with 10.14.5.
Can you tell me if you experience the same as my post?

Are you able to ping any local network resources like your router?
Thank you. When I typed the ping command it kept scrolling thru "64 bytes from 192.168.1.1 icmp_seq=" etc. with the "time=0.730 ms" etc. I restarted and still have no connection. Maybe it needs a good night sleep?
Followed your suggestion and no internet even after reboot. Network still shows connected to Ethernet and WiFi so still stumped. Thanks for your help. I think I have Apple Care still in place :)
Cheers!
Don’t take this the wrong way but I am glad you are having this problem too. I have been struggling for a week with this issue and multiple machines and can’t find anybody else having this issue until you posted the problem.
Sorry to be so lame but how do I "ping" a local network resource?
I have this problems with this Update into MacBook Air 13". I have tried several times
When that happens, try downloading and installing the package directly:
I hope it helps others too... Unfortunately, that is not a solution for my machines.
