Usb-c port not functioning MacBook Pro 2017

The usb-c port on the left side (closest to the trackpad) of my macbook pro is not functioning. When I plug my charger in that port it won't charge, when I plug usb devices in they are not recognized by the system (they don't show up in system information usb tree). Is there any way that this isn't a hardware issue?

Try doing an SMC Reset of the device. This shouldn't cause any loss of data.

  1. Choose Apple menu > Shut Down.
  2. After your Mac shuts down, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds. If you have a MacBook Pro with Touch ID, the Touch ID button is also the power button.
  3. Release all keys.
  4. Press the power button again to turn on your Mac.

I tried this with no change, are there any other options from my house or should I just take it in?

Certainly try a different cable... that being said

Rebooting—as well as resetting NVRAM —redefines port definition.

If neither of these redefine the port in question, then you have a hardware issue.
