trying to pair the amazon kindle fire to my apple ipad device

I am trying to pair my amazon kindle fire to my apple ipad device, but my ipad blue tooth just keeps buffering - it does not show the kindle fire device. On my amazon kindle fire the blue tooth does show my ipad device. What am I doing wrong? Thank you
