Apple Dictionary Bugginess

Hi folks,

So, my Apple Dictionary application, as much as I love it, is growing increasingly buggy. I have had minor problems with it for several OS updates, but now, clicking on a word-link with my mouse simply does not work . . . at all. This has happened intermittently before, but now, it never works. Interestingly, my Magic Trackpad gets along just fine with the Dictionary.

My Magic Mouse is not showing any other problematic behaviours (e.g. links on Safari work just fine). This is limited strictly to Dictionary word-links, as far as I can tell.

I have tried deleting what seem to be Dictionary related plist files, but that has had no discernible effect. I wish Apple would let me simply to a fresh installation of just Dictionary, but that doesn’t seem possible. Any other suggestions?

Thank you!

Well, I have found a workaround. I used BetterTouchTool to set “tap-to-click” for the left mouse button (which you can do natively for the Magic Trackpad, but not for the Magic Mouse), and it works perfectly. Moreover, my mouse will probably last a bit longer too!

Of course, this does not solve the actual problem with Dictionary, which has needed an overhaul for a while.
