Thank you so much for trying to help me. I had already made Gmail my default account in Settings on my phone, but none of my Contacts groups appear on on my iPhone . . . . just all my individual Contacts. Any other ideas for getting my Contacts groups onto my phone?
Correct. It's not now, nor has it ever been a feature of the iOS contacts app. However, your welcome to submit your thoughts on that to apple.com/feedback

When you go to settings>contact>default account - what is listed there? If you added your Gmail account then you should have them.
The iOS contacts app has not and does not display or break contact into groups. So this is normal behavior.
So, my Gmail Contacts groups will not be available on my iPhone even if I reset my default Email account to iCloud on my phone. correct?
Good to know it’s just not possible, so I can stop trying to make it happen. Thanks for your help.
