Removing old payment methods

so Apple is telling me to go verify my payment method, so I go to Apple store and I see that my old card is still on there, because I got a new debit card, so it’s telling me to put in the cvc number and I know it’s not going to work because that card doesn’t work anymore the bank canceled that card, I have a new debit card, so I try to remove that payment method and it’s telling me I can’t because I have an active subscription on that account that it requires at least one payment on file, so I’m confused and need help because how can I pay when my old debit card doesn’t work anymore
