Apple will not replace battery saying ipad is bent.

Recently sent my ipad pro in because I wanted the battery replaced. The battery drains quickly. At $99 seemed like a good deal. I received an email from apple saying my ipad is bent and the cost to repair would be $600. Thing is my ipad is not visibly bent. All I wanted was a new battery. My ipad pro works pefectly in all other aspects. It has always been in a case and never left our house. Are others having this issue? Attached is the photo they sent me of the bend. I don't really see it.

iPad Pro, iOS 12

Here is what you should do my friend:

I would take it to an Apple Authorized Service Provide in your area (locate.Apple.com). The battery replacement will be about $20 more but it should not be a problem.

It's extremely doubtful they will have any problem/unwillingness to do your battery replacement. I would not even raise the "bent" issue with the service provider unless they are a long distance away and you want to be reasonable assured they can do it before driving such a distance. Keep in mind they will have to order the battery so it would require a return visit.

iPad Pro's often do have a slight bend in them. Yours does appear to be within normal tolerances based on the picture. If you search but are truly unable to find an Apple Authorized Service Provider in your area, then I would definitely do the Genius Bar and even there, they may not have a problem with it even though the Apple repair center did.

Well after disputing this with apple they agreed with me that the Ipad was not out of acceptable tolerances. They agreed to perform the battery change. Interesting thing is they actually do not send you your original Ipad back they just sent me a different Ipad. Don't know if it refurbished because it came in generic packaging but it does have a different serial number then the one I sent in and looks new. It is the same specs and generation of the one I sent in. Received the replacement one today and it works fine.

Haven't had good results with the "genius" bar. They seem to be hiring a bunch of kids with little knowledge to the products these days. You tube seems to give you better info these days. When I took my Imac to get a new hard drive, they forgot to put all the screws back on the screen and did not install the operating system on the new drive. All they do is send to the service center for an ipad battery replacement.

Thanks for the info. That is what I thought, that it was within in tolerance. I did speak to the service center via phone and disputed the claim. The guy on the phone looked at the picture and agreed he could not see a discernable bend. They said it will take two days to give me a final decision on the dispute. If they won't replace it I will have it sent back and go to a local place to replace the battery. On my macbook pro, my battery failed. The genius bar told me they would have to send it out and it would take about 2 weeks to repair. I went to a local experimac store and they replaced it in an hour while I waited. The battery on that macbook pro was defective. They showed me how one portion of it had swelled up, they said this is a known defect that apple only replaces in certain macbook pro models.
