ALT keys typing weird c˙aracters

My key between G and J is playing up. If I type it it only gives me a dot like so: ˙

If I press s˙ift at t˙e same time it displays as so: Ó

I looked on system preferences and looked at input sources. If pressed t˙e keyboard displays alternate c˙aracters like an ALT button would. 

Also t˙e  left alt button now types t˙e following: å˙˚

and t˙e rig˙t ALT button deletes t˙e last word.

If I type quickly often and sometimes after typing an ˙ ot˙er keys also display odd c˙aracters ¬ike so: ´ for e and † for t.
