Error message whenever I try to log into my Apple ID account

I am trying to set up my imessage on my macbook air (it used to be set up but automatically disabled) but it keeps sending an error message whenever I try to log into my apple ID account. I changed my password from my iPhone 6s and still it will not work to sign on to imessage. I can sign into icloud just fine. I have gotten into the imessage screen but nothing will sync because it will not allow me to add my phone number in my preferences and will not activate my icloud apple ID to receive messages like on my phone. I've tried updating my software, changing my password, deleting files, everything from this website: https://www.hawkdive.com/imessage-activation-error-occured-mac/

I don't want to have to go to an Apple store. Please help.

When the iMessages account will not Login

Get help signing in to Messages, FaceTime, and Game Center

If you can't sign in to your iMessage account or FaceTime on your Mac

If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime

A Fix for Messages

  1. Open the Keychain app in the Utilities’ folder,
  2. Delete com.apple.facetime in the passwords section,
  3. Reboot the computer,
  4. Log into the desktop, launch Messages; go to Preferences, sign out from the iCloud account,
  5. Log back into the iCloud account.

Have someone else attempt to sign in using their Apple ID. If they can successfully sign in and use Messages/FaceTime, it may be your Apple ID. Someone I know had this happen and I was able to sign in using my Apple ID. After a call to Apple Support and then being elevated to a tier 2 support person, it turned out it was a problem with their Apple ID. It took the software engineers 3-4 days to fix the problem. When calling Apple, make sure you tell them it is an Apple ID problem so you don't get charged.

You can also try signing in on another device/computer. There have been a couple of posts where people's device/computer was blocked. You will need to contact Apple for that problem also.

There is a contact link.
