“Limit Frame Rate” — iPad Pro 10.5
Good morning everyone. Hope you all are well and loving your Apple products; I know I certainly am. I have owned an WiFi + Cellular iPad Pro 10.5” on AT&T in the United States, and have cherished every minute with it. This past March marked its one-year birthday, but it still runs like a champ. I was extremely surprised to learn that these iPad Pro devices do not slow down like iPhone and iPod devices do, so that is a huge relief. Hopefully I will get another five years — hopefully more — out of it!
I came across a feature in General > Display Accommodations “Limit Frame Rate.”
Turning this switch on, I have noticed some very slight lag, or stutter when scrolling in certain apps like Settings and swiping back and forth to and from my various Home Screens. Turning this “Limit Frame Rate” back off, and these slight lags and stutters totally disappear.
I noticed under the setting that when this switch is on, the Frame rate of the screen is capped at 60 frames per second. With that being said, when this switch is off, does the entire iOS operating system run at 120 frames per second at all times, or very close to it?
What if I were in a situation and needed to use my iPad Pro, but also needed to conserve battery as well? Could I enable “Limit Frame Rate”, continue working, and save more power? How much power would you all guess the battery saves while being throttled to only 60 frames per second?
I am actually typing this with “Limit Frame Rate” turned on, and experience zero keyboard lag, or really any lag or stutter, other than quick scrolling and things like that.
What do you all think?
Many thanks in advance!
