mail app keeps opening by itself. Just started since latest Mojave update. I am unable to determine why it does this and cannot find a solution.
iMac 27" 5K, macOS 10.14
Mail app is started. The new window opens randomly when mail app is not being used (but not quit). Does not appear to be related any new incoming mail. Does not do this in safe mode. Started at about the same time as the mojave 10.14.5 update.
We need more information.
When you say open, you mean you have quit Mail and it starts, or is it running and comes to the foreground?
Any particular circumstances where this happens?
Does the problem also occur in Safe Mode?

Please expand on your comment. You initially replied to this post in a manner that implied you had some knowledge in analyzing the problem. If you have some detail to provide regarding why "cleanmymac" is the problem, please share it. That program has been working long before this problem started so it might be helpful to know how it suddenly created the problem.
Same here, among other bugs. They think too much about emojis nowadays and they forget the basics... We need another Snow Leopard.. I will not update to Catalina.
