What is not compatible?
The connector?
If so you need to use the Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter
You don't need to buy new EarPods. Just use the ones that came in the box with your iPhone XR. They are the same as the ones you bought except they have a different connector.

The iPhone XR comes with EarPods, why did you buy a new set?
I bought a set of ear buds to use on my i5. AFTER that I bought a new xr. Now the buds are not compatible.
Is there an adaption available?
Not really helpful.
I did get ear buds with my new XR
BUT
I am trying to find a use for the nearly new $25 buds that I cannot use because they do not connect to the new phone.
I do not want to buy more ear buds.
