Unable to change apple id to email with top level domain ".family"

I want to change apple id to my new email address on my own domain ending with ".family"(***@barl.family). It looks like that the validation of email address is not updated to "new domains" - the family is valid since 2015/2016. Neither Microsoft nor Google has a problem with ".family" domain, why is it still not possible with Apple?

Yes, the apple support guy told me that he will create an internal incident and I should write the same incident to discussions.apple.com.

I don't believe that is actual Apple terminology.
