Transferring music from iPad to MacBook Air

Help! Music on my very old iPad that came from CDs did not transfer to my new MacBook Air. How do I make this happen?

I have a few questions but will start with 2 music related questions. 1)Is it possible to transfer non-apple-purchased music from my MacBook pro computer to latest gen iPad 10.2 or 2) from internet to latest gen iPad 10.2 ? Is either process easy? Is either process difficult. Apple seems to have more barriers to moving music, even what I own on cd to iPhones and I wonder if it is the same for iPad?
