Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Rosiemate.

If I understand your post correctly, you have music in iTunes on your computer and you'd like to get that music onto your iPod nano. I’d like to help.

Follow the steps in this article:

Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using iTunes on your computer

Let us know if that resolves this issue for you.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Take care.

Hello Rosiemate.

To sync music from your computer to your iPod touch, you'll first need to download the music to your computer.

If you purchased the songs from iTunes you can download them to your computer like this:

Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books from the App Store, iTunes Store, and Apple Books

If you have an Apple Music subscription, you can click the iCloud icon next to the songs you'd like to sync to your iPod. With Apple Music you also have the option of syncing your iPod touch with your iCloud Music Library like this:

Access your music collection on all of your devices with Apple Music

Cheers.
