Airport utility mixing up base station and remote

I have an AirPort Extreme connected to the router I got from Verizon/FIOS and an Airport Express set up to extend the network. I used Airport Utility to set this up, however, now it shows the two Airports "switched"... I've been having issues with the wifi not working. Could the "switch" that Airport Utility sees be a symptom or a disease of my connection problems?

Then, this tells you that it is the AirPort Express that is acting up.

Perform a Hard Reset on the AirPort Express with it powered on by holding in the reset button on the device for 7-8 seconds.

Then, release the reset button and give the Express a full minute to restart

Restart your Mac

Set up the AirPort Express again to extend the network from the AirPort Extreme by temporarily locating the AirPort Express near the AirPort Extreme for the setup

Check to see if AirPort Utility is displaying the network setup correctly

If it is, move the AirPort Express back to the desired remote location

Try to keep a line of sight relationship between the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express as much as possible. Unfortunately, even with line of sight, the AirPort Express will create a loss of at least half of the potential speed on your network. Nature of the beast when you try to extend a network using a wireless connection.

Temporarily, power off both the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express.

Make sure that an Ethernet cable connects from one of the Ethernet LAN <--> ports on the FIOS router (there are likely 4 of them) to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Extreme.

Power up the AirPort Extreme, but leave the AirPort Express powered off.

Check using AirPort Utility to make sure that a solid line.......(not a dotted line)......is displayed from the Internet globe to the AirPort Extreme.

Check to make sure that all of your devices can connect to the AirPort Extreme wireless and get a good connection. If they can, you can proceed to the next step. However if they can't, then post back for more instructions....and do not power up the AirPort Express yet.

Power up the AirPort Express. If the Express connects to the AirPort Extreme using a wireless link, there should be a dotted line between the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express when you check using AirPort Utility.
