Problems with BT email on iPhone

I have had to change my password for my BT email account and now I cannot get my iPhone to connect. I have deleted and recreated the account several times and been very careful to ensure that the password is correct but it just will not connect. I have contacted BT as as my email works on the web and through outlook they say it is an iPhone issue. Can anyone help.

You have not mentioned the type of email your have configured. POP3 or IMAP? Watch the process below, to be adopted with the IMAP and SMTP settings


User Name: abcd@btinternet.com


Incoming Mail Server

IMAP Server: mail.btinternet.com

Port: 993

SSL/TLS: Yes


Outgoing Mail Server

SMTP Server: mail.btinternet.com

Port: 465

SSL/TLS: Yes


This process is valid for all mails, AOL, Google, Yahoo, Outlook, Hotmail, Exchange, or any Other


  1. Keep your email id/Username and password handy
  2. Use this link to find out your Incoming and Outgoing server settings by entering your email address
