Windows games do not launch in Bootcamp on a MacBook Pro 2017

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro 2.9GHz with a Radeon Pro 560 with 4GB of GDDR5 memory and automatic graphics switching with in-built Intel HD Graphics 630. The SSD drive is partitioned with bootcamp running Windows 10.

When trying to run Steam or GOG Windows games in bootcamp Windows 10 almost all of them do not launch (Fallout 3, etc etc), and most give some message about a graphics issue (card, driver, etc). I can run very old games (System Shock 1, Dark Forces 1) and I am guessing this is because the graphics are generates in software (not involving either graphics processor).

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I heard somewhere that it might be something to do with the graphics switching used in MacBook Pros but I can't find that info, and I believe I have seen video of a MacBook Pro 2018 running Windows games in bootcamp.

So I am hoping there is an easy fix?

I'm wondering if the issue isn't related to Boot Camp or your MacBook GPU behavior at all, but simply running all these old games in Windows 10 without some Windows-specific troubleshooting? (especially GOG ones that haven't been massaged at all courtesy of Steam).

For example: Fallout 3 won't generally run on Windows 10 without some work. See if this helps you:

How about this for Dark Forces (which I definitely want to try myself!)

Have you tried using DOSBOX for any of these games not working? (especially for the straight GOG ones) That's generally going to be the best and most pain-free way:
