Message app on Mac won't send text

I had this problem before and I cannot figure it out again. Nor can I see post that I posted months ago. I think it possibly has happened due to upgrades with my OS and iOS along with resetting my settings on my iPhone. None of this should have affected it but the fact remains I CANNOT SEND TEXT FROM MY iMAC! Please HELP AGAIN!!!!!

For review please read How to forward text messages on your iPhone.

For some reason I have never seen explained, following certain macOS updates I have determined it necessary to "sign in" with the FaceTime app before text message forwarding would work again. So, if you haven't tried that yet, try it: open FaceTime and review your account settings in its Preferences.

In my case doing that caused text message forwarding to work again, even though one would think FaceTime and Messages are unrelated to one another.
