imovie theater

hello

I found some old iMovies of mine in the archives and media folders ini iMovie theatre package contents and would like to move/use them again but I can't seem to access the files when I try to move them it creates a shortcut any suggestions?

Hold down the Option key as you drag out the movie from the Theater archives to your desktop. That will create a copy, not a shortcut.

Where do media files "live?" I think I read that iMovie does not make new copies of media added for the purpose of being used in movies. But rather it references those files in the location from which they came. Is this true? Just to be clear. Let's say I have a "ForMovies" folder on my desktop where I drop audio and video clips that I intend to use in iMovie for movie projects. I drag a video clip file--let's call it PurpleHaze--into the media section of iMovie. I then use PurpleHaze in a movie. Then at some later point I accidentally trash the PurpleHaze file from the "ForMovies" folder. And I empty the Trash. Will the PurpleHaze clip still be in the project, and the movie function correctly? Or is it a goner, and my movie is missing part of its content?

iMovie, where are my files? OSX 10.11.6, iMovie 10.1.6, I opened iMovie after not having used it for a while, and the app behaved as if it was the first time I opened it. None of my previous files are visible. I'm sure they're on the computer. . . somewhere. Worst case, I can find them via Time Machine... Where do I find my previous iMovie files and how do I link them to the application? Thanks!

Restoring Old iMovie projects Hey there-- So I recently found several old iMovie project folders that appear to contain all the data for a particular video, but I haven't been able to figure a way to get them back into iMovie so I can re-export the video. Any suggestions here? For example, below is a screenshot of one folder. The highlighted file is the original video clip that was imported into iMovie. I then made edits. In this case, to the audio - deleting (minimizing) original audio and adding new audio. The new audio files are in the same folder -> "02 No World...." is one of them. I assume there is some sort of file in this folder structure that would tell iMovie how to arrange the media into the edited version that I had initially saved and exported way back when. First of all: Is this a fair assumption? and second: How would I go about getting this project back into iMovie in it's originally edited condition? Thanks!
