iCloud photo sharing

if I turn off "iCloud Photo Sharing" (System Preferences>iCloud>Photos-Options) on my MacBook, does it turn it off photosharing on my iphone? I have 100 of shared albums with my family and don't want to run the risk of losing them if I uncheck the ""iCloud Photo Sharing" box on my Mac. As an aside, the reason I want to turn it off on my Mac is because the container holding the shared album data (i.e. ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.cloudphotosd/Data/Library/Application Support/com.apple.cloudphotosd/services/com.apple.photo.icloud.sharedstreams/) is taking up over 60Gb of storage on my 120Gb mac. I don't want to lose the sharedalbums because they a chronology of photos making up my daughter's first 3 years of life. Thanks for your help.
