SMC Reset MacBook Pro 2018 & 2019

Hello everyone o/

I need your help because i just cannot understand how to reset my SMC on my 2019 MacBook Pro.

I have tried to follow Apple instructions on the website but something is strange :

Method 1 : shutting down the Mac and press power button for 10 sec, wait a little, then power on the Mac.

Every time I start my 10 sec the Mac starts up and boot. Is the Mac supposed to power up while doing the process ? Am I supposed to keep pressing the power button while the Mac is powering on ?

Everytime I try and see the Mac powering on I release the power button.

Method 2 : press left Ctrl + CMD and right MAJ for 7 sec, then add power button for 7 sec and then stop and start the Mac.

Well any key pressed while the Mac is off is powering it on so how are we supposed to do without powering on the Mac ?

Did you use the instructions in this Apple support document?

How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

If so, did you use the special section for 2018 and later MacBook Pros? That section starts with this heading:

How to reset the SMC on a Mac that has the Apple T2 Security Chip

I don't have a definitive answer to this question as the newest Mac I have doesn't power on when the keys are pressed. However, I'd presume that perhaps its fine if your Mac begins to start up during the second process as Apple doesn't seem to provide additional instructions for keeping your Mac powered off during the procedure.

Hello Encryptor5000, thanks for your thoughts,

yes that's maybe the case, you are right, I was just wandering if someone had experience that to be sure, as I do not want to mess up to much with the boot to cause abrupt interruption or crashs.

I could not find anywhere up to date videos of how to do this on latest MBP versions, that's why I am asking before doing anything stupid.
