My button to release my band won’t release the band. I’m to the point where I’ve tried wd40. Any suggestions. I’m in a bad spot because my puppy snagged my band for a second and it’s a wire mesh and now the snags are tattering all my long sleeves.

In most cases I would suggest flushing the band fixing with gently warm water to help clear any debris, How to clean your Apple Watch - Apple Support but with the risk of other damage I think your next step should be Contact Support and arrange a visit to the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store for hands-on assistance, and purchase a new band.

If cleaning the button with warm to hot water while covering the rest of the Watch did not work (and you try pushing the button while the water is running and the button is warm to hot) then the button is probably broken. Click on the Contact Support link at the top right of this page.
I think you need hands on assistance from Apple’s support techs as suggested in previous posts. They have the regular experience to know what feels right, and how much force they can use without damaging the watch. One point to check, does the release button move but the band fails to release or slide out, -or- is the release button not moving at all? On my Series 3 the buttons only press about 0.5mm but you can see it has moved. Without pushing the release I can feel the band moves very slightly in its channel, only about 0.5mm again so it is more feel than see, but it might give you a clue what is stuck.
That didn’t help at all. I’m to the point where i may need to get a new watch if I cannot get the band off. So............ ideas? Clean the debris, anything else?
Yeah the button won’t compress at all. The other one does when I press it in to release it.
