iPhone not showing in Windows Explorer - June 2019

Hi All,

I know there are already a lot of post about the subject but nothing have helped so far.

Our issue is that the iPhone 7 Plus doesn't show in Windows Explorer but syncs in iTunes.

Here are the things we did:

  1. Uninstall and re-install the drivers (together with all the device restarts). Updated all the drivers, still didn't work.
  2. Updated Windows and iOS to latest version.
  3. Ran the troubleshooter for Apple USB device. Error here is saying that USB 2.0 is not compatible with USB 3.0 or something like that.
  4. Re-installed iTunes, didn't help.
  5. Looking at device manager, when I tried reinstalling the driver and manually selecting which driver I wanted, MTP USB Device doesn't show available drivers.
  6. No Apple folder in C:\Program Files\Common Files and in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files. So I can't find where I can manually install usbaapl64.inf or usbaapl.inf
  7. No Apple Mobile Device service found in Services.msc
  8. Connected another iPhone (XR) to the same Windows laptop, works fine.
  9. Windows laptop only has 1 USB 3.0 port. USB Hub doesn't make a difference as well.
  10. User account already has Full Control in iTunes folder

I've seen a suggestion saying to use Windows Photo Viewer (Photos for Windows 10) or something like that, but doesn't work great. It copies photos/videos for about 2 or 3 mins then it would stop and it won't detect my iPhone anymore.

Any other ideas?

Thank you.

If you've installed iTunes from the Microsoft Store you may want to uninstall and use the traditional setup.exe installer instead. You should unlock your device before connecting to USB and trust the computer if prompted.
