My iphone is not recognized in Finder but it is in itunes (iphone10s)(High Sierra 10.13.6)

My iphone is not recognized in Finder but it is in itunes (iphone10s)(High Sierra 10.13.6) I need to transfer video and photos often from my Macbook (GoPro shoots mostly),to my 10s for reference. This is easy drag and drop on my PC but I have tried everything I can find online to transfer from My Mac. iTunes recognizes and backs up my iphone just fine but Finder will not recognize it. I went under "SYSTEM/USB" it shows my iphone connected via USB there.

The file system is not visible in Finder. Finder can be used to sync and back up the phone ONLY in macOS Catalina.

You can sync photos from the photos app on your Mac to the phone using iTunes.
