itunes could not backup the iphone because the backup was corrupt no backup to delete

I cannot back up to itunes - the message from itunes is that the backup is corrupt.

I have gone into Itunes>preferences and there is NO back up to delete

software version in current as of 13.6.19 on phone and PC

please assist

Reboot both the computer and the device. See Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support and clean up any unwanted/corrupt backup set from the storage location.
