Animoji problem

When I go to do an Animoji it says “tap to resume” but when I tap it does nothing.

force restart the device - Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

Animoji tap to resume error So one day when I was going to send an Animoji, it showed the red button for a second but then it went away. Then, under the Memoji it said “tap to resume”, and when I click it, it makes the Memoji do what I do for a single frame, and then it just goes back to tap to resume. I am on the latest software (IOS 16.5) and restarted my iPhone multiple times. I know how to make an Animoji and had done it numerous times before but this time it doesn’t work. And this didn’t happen just one time it’s every time now. I have the iPhone 14 pro max so there’s no reason it shouldn’t work. But I do have a screen protector on that dose not have a hole for the dynamic island. Please help with this.
