Worried to connect USB-C to HDMI dongle to my MacBook Pro.

I've got a MacBook Pro 2017 base model and I have to connect it to an External Monitor.

I am planning to buy an USB-C to HDMI dongle and its making me confused.

If I buy a 3rd party dongle like HooToo, Uni, VAVA, Novoo etc, Lots of people commented, the dongle damaged their Mac.

If I go for the expensive Apple dongle, still most of the comment says not to buy it, it also damaged their MacBook Pro.

What do you suggest I should do !

What about the Belkin USB-C to HDMI dongle sold in Apple store, they say its Tested and Reliable?

If my mac get damaged using Apple or Belkin dongle, will they take responsibility? as my Mac is out of warranty.

Is there any chance the HDMI cable from ebay might damage my Mac?

USB-C is the name of the connector, only. It tells you NOTHING about the capabilities of the cable/adapter.

The classic counter example is the Mac charging cable, which has a USB-C connector at each end. It is not a USB cable -- it features only Power and USB-2 (fast enough for a keyboard and little else).

You must shop carefully.

If you buy the Apple:

... then if there is a problem,,you take your computer and adapter to the Apple store and tell them to "fix it!"
