Server on iPhone not responding

For those of you having problems with not being able to connect to any server when WiFi is off— I tried everything when I was almost ready to flush my phone down the toilet I decided it could be one last problem— I have trees all around my house so walked to other side of trees & LOW AND BEHOLD IT WORKED!!! One specific tree had overgrown and blocked my signal to the Verizon tower!! So hopefully those having same problem it will work! New to this site so hope I did this right!!!
