Log Out Hangs

I power cycle/reboot my iMac and MacBook Pro as needed. Other than Mac OS updates 95% of my power cycle/reboots are because the log out process hangs. Usually it results in a blank screen with no way to force the log out to continue.

Several months ago I nuked and paved both systems, installing all apps and copying data from a Time Machine backup. I did not do a Time Machine restore.

Everything operated smoothly for the first month then I started getting log out hangs after the systems had been up for a week or two.

I find this behavior incredibly annoying and want to find its cause.

I am familiar with the Console app and in prior jobs have sifted through my share of log files.

I did find an old posting by Linc Davis (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6727678), still relevant?

I appreciate any guidance offered.

Regards,

Don
