Searching around like crazy to find that there was some 4 fingered thing that screen/window caps, BUT to the clipboard, not directly to a file. Mention was made of a snip tool, I tried it out and got very confused as I had no idea what it was doing (may need to spend some time in there). No audio with the 4 fingers as they said it should, more searching, ah, Snap Shot, something like that in Themes/Sound... nope nothing like that in there. Anyway, here it is:

I have heard many talk about a version 6 of the BC bits, sometimes referring to it as the iMac Pro BC bits. Unfortunately, before I saw you admonition about running the software update, I HAD already done that. How do I get one like yours? BTW, iCloud works like a champ!

What an adventure... one one restart I got a "kernel security check failure" BSOD. Seemed fine after a restart. Think I may have somewhat borked my iCloud drive. Think I dragged it from the File thing to my desktop, thinking it would make an alias. File thing now shows 2, one with a pin, one without. Prolly shoulda done the "make a shortcut."

Ah, I alluded to some third party stuff regarding installing BC bits not knowing if my post would get deleted! I have 2 guides that detail how to make use of it. Other friends advised me to use the apple ones!

I read through that link, but I was under the impression that the install process (as detailed in this blog:

<https://www.crystalidea.com/blog/bootcamp-and-windows-10-1903-may-update>

was a kind of autoinstalls. Can I run what he suggests in that blog post?

And as you know the drivers for any Mac that’s not using the legacy Xeon architecture aren’t compatible cooling wise. I’m sure any attempts to install them as is could lead to compatibility issues even boot up complications.

Of course that’s Only if you’re able to get any of those drivers to work. Since the internal components (parts) aren’t all the same. Like sticking a Hyundai engine in a Honda or a Hemi into a Ford.

Yes I do remember them. Are they making a come back? DayStar Digital, Power Computing, Radius, StarMax just to name a few that were licensed. I remember them well. Apple provided information as to how it’s computers were superior. Weird training session that lasted 2 hours. I got a free bag 💼 out of it. I loved that tote bag. Didn’t one of them kick the crap out of Apple specs?

@Riverside Guy this isn’t targeted to you or anyone. It’s in general that we want our systems to be able to do what PCs do. That’s be able to upgrade them at will. And usually Apple adds barriers to limit that upgradability.

So if we find a way around these barriers it should not come as a surprise that something be put into place to hinder further explorations.

Personally, I love Apple products. But I can’t afford to play keeping up with the Jones. It seems to me the new direction Apple is headed.

And to upgrade less then 2 years after the products Initial release cycle. And upgrading to the new just to enjoy the Apple’s ecosystem and functionality when the new marginally exceeds the old. Just makes me think.

Trust me, I have become not so much an expert, but way more knowledgeable than I used to be! I have a true 5,1, I have NOT touched the firmware at all. THAT would be a step I would take if my boot array failed and I wanted a boot NVMe blade (I would go for a pair in an array, but I am also very much stuck in SierraVille because I have a perfectly good and very well performing (even in Metal!) nVidia GTX980)

All fans in a cMP full throttle CAN wake the dead, it's VERY loud. My understanding is the SMC would take that step if a imminent total failure was about to happen, but nobody seems aware of where exactly that point would be, thus most feel it would be too late. Many have told me to use smccontrolfans, but I find it less than useful as it averages 3 of the most critical fans into one lump. Using IT would mask my specific issue, with is the Northridge chip itself, it is running WAY hotter than I think is should. My preference is Macs Fan Control, just like you.

It's very hot ambient here now (no a/c where the computer sits). I CAN hear my fans, but it's not TOO annoying. Gaming sends the noise up. My CPU (single processor) is way cooler than yours, but my Northbridge is way hotter. Soon as I get my hands on the right tool, I'm going to see what is going on under my heatsink... oh, I have seen similar messages before, crappy hosting software I believe, I go back to the days of acoustic couplers and BBSes.

I see your point. Well I've been playing around with the Fan Control both in Windows 10 and MacOS. I've found new settings for my fans. It's not as loud as it use to be and the fans do increase depending on the application being used. And yes it does get a bit louder when playing games. Of course your results may very but here's my new cooling results after applying new thermal paste and changing Fan Control settings.

The cMP needed a filter in the front. While cleaning my system I've found allot of dust and things. And most likely originated from the carpet found in this room. Had there been a filter, that would've lessen the amount of dust and the nasty accumulation of random particles found. LOL, Apple's design intervention at it's finish. Personally I found the reason it doesn't have a filter ridiculous!

And by the way I've cleaned the CPUs and added new thermal paste to each Xeon Processor. Which wasn't really necessary. As I recall the CPUs were previously cleaned a few years ago. And since then it has been well kept. So I cleaned up the dust that managed to get in between the large heat sinks! And I also cleaned the fans. The one thing I would like to do one day is to clean the fans inside the power supply. I'm sure they are much more filthy.

Mine system however has aways been kept in a well maintained AC cooled room. And since I'm don't have pets and I'm a non smoker. I'm sure that helps a bit too. I've seen video where people updated the same model I have and changed out the cooling fans with the ones found in PCs. The results are insanely cool and quite. But it seemed to risky to me since I have no idea how Apple regulates the why the system cools each area. I just adjust the fan speed to confiscate for what I believe is needed for my system to stay cool without maxing out the fans.

To take a total leap of faith that I could control all fans in the cMP at one given time as the person had done in his video. That just didn't seem worthy to me unless the absence of sound was that important. But still, it was nice to see the process and the end results.

I can't seem to get out of Windows! My Bootcamp rebooter has never worked, I would have to restart while in windows and hit Option and then IK would get the universal No Way/No How circle with a slash. I just updated Windows 10 PRO to version 1809 and still the same issue! HELP! It is a new Mac, barely 6 months old!
