how do i turn off notifications so they dont come thru my ear buds

When using my Apple wireless earbuds with my Apple iPhone I am getting notifications through my earbuds. How do I turn off notifications so that I don’t keep getting that dinging in my ear.

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 12

Hello,

Notifications are either on or off. They will play through whatever audio output device that is selected.

If you want to temporarily silence notifications, just use the "mute" button on the left side of the phone.
