How can I get sound notifications on earbuds AND phone.

I mostly use my bluetooth earbuds for audiobooks and podcasts. Then I take them out. The problem is then don't hear the ring for incoming calls, or text messages. Is there a ways to make sound notifications ALWAYS come out of the phone, or both the phone and earbuds? I've searched online and found nothing about this issue. I find it hard to believe I'm the only one!
