Dropped Frames again

Hi All,

Footage in 4k although output will be HDef.

During import I chose proxy.

I have proxy checked in viewer.

Regardless of choosing FIT or Fill I get dropped frames so badly I can't edit.

I am low on computer hard drive space - about 50 gigs.

My external drive has 1TB of space and may have been used for Time Machine previously but not now. First time using this drive for video.

A test export looked fine.

I'm also getting a "these clips must be reimported" message even though I can see them in browser.

Maybe because creating proxies takes time, and they are not all finished?

Press command-9 to check if there are still transcoding operations to be finished.

Also, you can select a clip in the browser and confirm in the Inspector, click the Info tab and check which versions do exist (original, optimized, proxy):

Another thing you can do is control-click on a clip, check Transcode Media. If there is already a proxy version, it will be greyed out. Otherwise, you can create one.

Oh, but 50GB of available space is not going to cut it...

Ok I got it now. Must of been distracted during first time.

I still don't understand why if I chose proxy at import then it shows missing file message until I switch to optimized in the viewer?

I need to find a job where I have to optimize some proxies all day long so i stay in practice.
