Why is my utility folder darkened?

It appears as if i am in the utility folder and it is highlightedas if but i am not and then the folder is a different color when i log in to it

Drop down arrow for folders missing So this has been happening since El Capitan for me. Seems to be random, and not every folder. My View is set to List, and Arranged as None. The only way to get the arrow to show up, is if I close the window the folder is in, and re-open it. Or open the affected folder, and then hit the back arrow. Essentially refreshing the window. Anyone know why this is happening? Has there ever been a solution? You'd figure, since El Capitan (and I'm on High Sierra now) Apple would have addressed long standing issues. That's the problem I have with Apple these days, they continue to skip fixing issues that's been plaguing users for years. Across mulitiple OS's.

Changing Mojave Folder Color I'm trying to change the colour of a folder on my desktop to purple. I'm following this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJkFhKJsYec At 1:09 they change the folder colour in the info panel to purple and it remains purple. Then they save the Preview folder to Desktop and it appears as purple. In my case, when I change the folder colour in the info panel to purple, it changes back to blue in about .5 seconds. Then when I save the Preview folder to Desktop, it is blue. Strange. What am I doing wrong. Thanks.

I see that your folder is darker than you're expecting and you need guidance on changing this. I love the fact that the iPhone is adjustable and I'd be happy to help out.
