Phone numbers in contacts changed to 10 digit string

Suddenly all or most of my phone number lost the leading +1 and area code parentheses. Now caller Id and messages start with ‘Maybe; some one,???

Where do your contacts come from? gmail? MS Exchange? Outlook? Have you changed Settings/Phone - Dial Assist recently? In most cases it should be ON.
