I rubbed the stainless steel part of my iphone X with toothpaste to remove scratch, but i'm more concerned about the toothpaste entering my phone or damaging it somehow, because i got some of it caught in the cervices between the front screen and the side stainless steel.
Will it damage my phone, can the toothpaste enter my phone? it is waterproof so it must be toothpaste proof too

If any liquid gets inside, the internal parts can corrode/short out.
If anything has been damaged, you may not notice right away.
Make sure you are backing up regularly and don't use toothpaste again :)

iPhones are not waterproof. Some are water resistant.
It is possible you damaged your phone. Only time will tell.

It's impossible to say without opening the phone.
Make sure your phone is set to back up to iCloud daily if you aren't already and keep using your phone as-is.

Apple never states the phone is waterproof. They say it is water resistant and tested in a lab. It doesn't guarantee no damage will occur, just reduces the odds.

but it is working fine, what could have happened? Can you explain to me what kind of damage could have been done
I have cleaned it with a cloth and it is working fine, but i dont know if any damage is done or not
Then why does it say that Iphone X is waterproof when it really isn't? and i did suck out the toothpaste with my mouth, i hope there isn't any left in it hut still i'm worried
So what are the odds of my phone being damaged? as toothpaste is thicker than water.
From where can toothpaste and water can enter the phone?
cuz i only got it on the right side of the phone below the volume buttons between the stainless steel and screen
