Specific folder issue on external drive

I'm having an issue with a specific folder (movies) on my external drive. The folder contains many large MKV files. The files are copies of my DVDs, which were made using makeMKV software.

Whenever I open this movies folder, the beach ball cursor spins and I'm not able to select, move, or delete anything. I must restart the finder in order to somewhat clear things up. When I try to access the folder again, same thing happens—everything slows down on my system, and it takes a very long time to restart. I tried booting in safe mode, same thing happens with this folder. I also did first aid on this disk via Disk Utility.

Any ideas on how to resolve this? Maybe it's the DS store file (to sure how to remedy that one).

Thanks.

I was able to fix the problem. Using Terminal, I moved a folder(b) out of the problem folder(a) to a different location. The problem folder(a) no longer gave me issues. So, obviously the issue was really folder(b). I moved the contents of folder(b) into a new folder and gave it a new name, put it back into folder(a) and all seems to be well.

Thanks anyways, I appreciate it.
