Can’t play music through car USB port

Hi, I have an iPhone SE (iOS 12.3.1) that has always played music perfectly through a USB cable plugged into my car’s port. Yesterday, my friend plugged her iPhone 5 into my cable to try and play her music. The phone connected, but when we tried to play music no audio came out (even though the song said it was playing on her phone). I then plugged my phone back in but the same thing happened. It connects, shows that it’s charging and playing music, but nothing plays. I’ve restarted my phone, unplugged the USB, turned my car off and back on, messed with all volume settings, and nothing worked. If you could please help I’d really appreciate it!!!

Hi Krf1,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. It sounds like your iPhone SE no longer works with your car stereo when connected through USB.

This article can help: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod doesn't connect to or work in your car. Scroll down to "If you connect using USB playback". Trying a different cable or checking for debris may help.

Have a fantastic day!

Hi,

thanks for the reply. I’ve checked for debris, used a different USB cable, restarted my phone, tried to play through my iTunes instead of Spotify, and nothing has worked...I really appreciate your help in figuring this out! It’s weird that it was working totally fine until my friend plugged her phone into my car and had the same issues.
