USB PORT

anyone know why my USB port is blocked? Only one side (left side of my Mac air) used to be no problem, but now I can’t seem to put a usb all the way in, it stops halfway

MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.14

This is a very common problem with the Airs. There is a grounding shield with tabs on the inside of the USB port and when a USB device is plugged in it can catch on one or more of these tabs and bend them causing the port to be blocked. The only way to resolve the issue is to replace the I/O Board which is not expensive although care must be taken when locking the fan cable connector in place as it is very easy to break the latch & have it pop off.

Assuming it is a 13" MBAir, this is the part:

Since the laptop is still supported by Apple, you could have it serviced at an Apple Store or independent Apple Authorized Service Provider.
